A little about this corner
Welcome to Alaa’s Journal — a warm corner for food, books, old places, and the small pleasures that make a day feel like our own.
Thank you for spending a little of your day here. Put the kettle on, choose a story, and make yourself comfortable.
Some stories begin with a photograph. A golden crust cooling by a window. A flower leaning out of its vase. A wooden door with more texture than words could easily hold. Here, the photograph is a beginning, and the writing stays a little longer.
The kitchen has a generous place in these pages: sweet things and savory things, the slow rise of bread, coffee in a favourite cup, tea when the afternoon begins to soften. Books sit nearby, with their questions and the thoughts they leave behind. There is room outside, too, for green paths, quiet gardens, and places that have weathered beautifully.
These stories are shared in English and Arabic, with each language given its own space and rhythm. You can wander between the shelves, return to a recipe, or simply stay with a picture for a moment.
This is a journal for noticing. A place to gather what feels warm, thoughtful, and worth keeping close.
